
Our university was established on December 4, 1971 under the name University of Brazzaville following the establishment of the Foundation for Higher Education in Central Africa (FESAC). The University of Brazzaville took the name University Marien Ngouabi (UMNG) in 1977, in honor of the former President of the Republic Marien Ngouabi who died the same year and was a student at the University of Brazzaville.
